32 athletes, 10 countries and 6 National Records.
That´s a wrap for Azul Freediving Challenge 2021.

As we know, Azul Freediving Challenge is a competition for all levels; from more experienced athletes who come to participate in the 70 Meters Challenge, to less experienced freedivers who are encouraged to start in the freedive competitive world and improve their level in a fun and safe way with our safety team.

Like our last edition in May, this time Azul Freediving Challenge was held in the Riviera Maya at Cenote Yum Kin, one of the favorite cenotes for many freedivers due to it´s depth (80 meters) and perfect conditions: hot water on the surface and no current.

We are very happy that the number of freedivers is increasing in every edition; this time we had 32 athletes from 10 different countries, all of them with the same goals: do their best in each dive, improve their PBs and spend a very good weekend surrounded by an incredible community of freedivers.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • NATIONAL RECORDS

This year we had 6 National Records for 3 different countries:

Ney Flores (Bolivia): CWTB -30m and FIM -30m
Candelaria Fabre (Argentina): CWBF -47m and FIM -56m
Camila Jaber and Monste Peart (Mexico): CWB -65m
Pedro Tapia (Mexico): CNF -73m

  • 70 METERS CHALLENGE

Athletes have to announce the exact time of their dive, the one who does it wins.
This year we had two divers who did their exact time; Pepe Salcedo from Mexico and Max Gardien from France.

Max Gardien, France Pepe Salcedo, Mexico

We want to thank our sponsors Cressi, Depth Wish, Journey, Divevolk and Big Blue for their support and helping us promote freedive in Mexico, and to our team who help us through all the competition.
