The AIDA ** freediver course is the foundation freediving course covering the necessary skills and knowledge for recreational freediver to safely freedive with or without a guideline.

You will be introduced to four freediving disciplines : static apnea, dynamic apnea, free immersion and constant weight. The course will follow your abilities and it is not a competitive course.

Enjoying is the most important point for us. We will first start in confined water and then explore the beautiful mexican cenotes while freediving.

Pré Recquisites

  • Be 18 years of age or older (16 years with parent or guardian consent).
  • Be confident and happy in the water.

Aida 2 - Program

Day 1 - from 9am to 5pmTHEORY, BREATHING, STRETCHING AND STATIC

  • The course will start with apnea theory, and breathing technique.
  • Then, we will focus on stretching and static apnea in the pool.
  • The day takes place in our Freediving house located in Playa del Carmen. (from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm).

Day 2 - from 9am to 5pm DEPTH, RESCUE TECHNIQUES AND CENOTE

  • Second day starts with an initiation to the technique of depth in a magnificent cenote.
  • We will teach you rescue techniques for apneists.
  • We will also take the opportunity to give you a short introduction to the cenotes, a geological specificity of the region (from 9am to 5pm).

Day 3 - from 9am to 5pmFREEDIVING TECHNIQUES AND EXAM

  • On the last day, we will dive into a different cenote.
  • We will work on the assimilation of techniques and personal record attempts in a different cenote.
  • We will end with a meal followed by a theoretical exam on the training. (from 9am to 5pm).

A Great Experience Taking AIDA Level 2!

100% recommend this shop! I took the AIDA Level 2 course with them last week and had an amazing time. We were a group of 4 freedivers with Rodrigo as our instructor and he did an excellent job tailoring the course to all of different abilities. He was patient but also knew when to push and encourage each of us so we could do our personal best freediving. He really stressed safety and recognizing your own limits. I had a great time and will be back soon for more! Everyone at the shop (Julian, Sofi, Peter, etc) is friendly and helpful as well. Don’t hesitate in taking a course with them!

First time freediving – AIDA** course

Wonderful.

Julien took care of all the scheduling and logistics.

Anne Sophie was always there making sure I was happy with words of encouragement.

I saw advanced student getting great training and having lots of fun with Rodrigo.

Roberto was my instructor. Perfect class, perfect pace. Very understanding and patient and an expert and the sport. He really worked with me in a very positive way. I made progress beyond my expectations. I completed my AIDA** certification. Roberto made sure I had no unanswered questions left about the theory and practice.

The open water freedives at the cenotes were amazing.

I recommend Pranamaya wholeheartedly. I will go back to continue my freediving adventure with them in the next couple of months. You really cannot go wrong with Pranamaya if you are a complete beginner or a very advanced diver — that outfit is really excellent.
